our story
about us
Our journey started with our love for dogs. We used to volunteer at an animal shelter in Rochester, NY and took the dogs for walks. Those dogs were rescued from Southern states where many animals are euthanized due to overcrowding in shelters. We met Cruise (our first pup) at the shelter. He was rescued by a volunteer group from Louisiana and transported with other dogs to New York to save their lives. Cruise was a gentle and loving soul. We took him for a walk a couple of times at the shelter, played with him, and fell in love with him. We made a decision to bring him home permanently and make him part of our family. We gave him the nickname – Baba.
First, we were not sure if we can handle and care for a dog at home, thinking it would be too much for us to manage as full-time professionals. But later, with a few small efforts, it became very easy to manage. Baba loved every person and animal he met and was our joy. Baba was a very kind and loving soul. He helped bring other dogs into our lives and became the motivation for us to become foster furparents. Through fostering we are able to help the most vulnerable dogs and help save their lives. With each wagging tail and grateful glance, we offer not only shelter, but love, stability, and hope.
Our journey as foster parents didn’t start with grand plans or a clear blueprint, but rather a deep sense of compassion and a desire to make a difference. We quickly learned that fostering a dog is so much more than simply providing food and water. It’s about restoring trust, rebuilding confidence, and helping these animals rediscover their joy. Each dog we foster comes with its own story, its own set of challenges, but also its own potential for healing and transformation
When our fosters are adopted, it is a beautiful moment to witness the connection and bond between a foster pup and their forever family. It’s a beautiful reminder that fostering is not just about helping the dogs, but about strengthening the bonds within the entire community of animal lovers.
Over the past ten years we have fostered dozens of dogs, each one leaving paw prints on our hearts. It is a selfless commitment that brings us so much joy. Fostering is an integral part of rescue, a movement for kindness, hope, and dignity for all animals.
As we reflect on a decade of fostering, we understand how much difference one small step can make. That’s how “Babapup” came into fruition. We help people interested in saving dogs’ lives, and provide resources to make fostering and rescue a fun and fulfilling journey.
At Babapup- we unify hearts and save paws for you and your loved ones.
